Ames football team ousted the Minnesota Golden Gophers 12 to 10 after trailing 10–0 at halftime. The Ames squad rode a late rally with two touchdowns and two goals to seal the win as students celebrated with cannon fire and noisy revelry on campus.
The Maple Leaf-Santa Fe through car runs Minneapolis to Los Angeles every Tuesday with bedding linen two toilet rooms and a porter for comfort. Alfred Herschel Munn of Ames and Grace Abigail Axtell of Newton wed Thursday evening October 21, 1897 in Newton. The groom, a junior partner at H L Munn & Son lumber dealers, has long been a respected Ames businessman. The bride, once a student at I A C, is described as refined and highly educated, a noted Jasper county girl. The Times joins friends in offering congratulations. they will reside in Ames after November 15.
