The Fort Dodge Des Moines and Southern Railway Co extends electrification on the Newton and Northwestern route from Fort Dodge Junction to Rockwell City. Overhead work and bonding progress at about a half mile daily. Five towns Piper Plunard Early Gowrie and Lanyon will be within hours of Des Moines. The extension will give the line the largest interurban mileage on private right of way in the country.

Myra Wasser, 15, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Wasser, was taken to Methodist hospital in Des Moines Sunday morning where Dr. Halloway performed an appendicitis operation. She stood the operation well and will soon be able to leave the hospital.

Semmons Car Accident Near John Coontz Farm

S W Semmons had a Sunday pleasure ride in a Mitchell car with J F Cagwin and Mr and Mrs M Hullibarger. Attempting a turn near the John Coontz farm the vehicle tipped onto its side. Mrs Hullibarger sustained bruises and scratches on her left arm shoulder and face while the others escaped unharmed. Mr Ringheim of Nevada aided the pair to town for treatment. the car was badly damaged but drivable home.

Runaway Buggy Injures Two Women at Chautauqua Park

Mrs. F. M. Coulter and Mrs. L. Loughran suffered painful injuries when a wheel hit a stump on a hill in Chautauqua park. The buggy overturned, the two small children escaped with minor bruises, and both women were hospitalized with rib and internal injuries and severe bruising. Recovery described as slow and painful.

Cole Bros. began paving the downtown alleys Tuesday, grading between Douglass and Kellogg. They aim to finish by December 20. Onondaga Street paving is complete except for a small west portion to be finished when blocks arrive, about five car loads needed.

Dr Copestake Returns From Coast Visit

Dr Copestake recently returned from an extended coast visit, mostly in Oregon. He notes Oregon’s developing fruit farms will yield a near inexhaustible supply of fruit and brought home apple samples from coastal farms. He prefers life in the middle west but believes agriculture offers greater money, while coastal life appears relaxed and healthy.

John Morrison Found Dead in Hedrick Post Office

Hon John Morrison of Hedrick Iowa a former college trustee and prominent sixth district Republican figure was found dead Tuesday evening at the Hedrick post office where he had served as postmaster for years. He leaves a wife and several children and was about seventy five.

H L Hardin was taken to Methodist hospital in Des Moines yesterday at noon for an appendectomy. Dr Fay performed the operation and the latest reports indicate he is resting as easy as possible.

Ames Men Injured in New York at General Electric Plant

Two Ames graduates from the I. S. C. class of 1910, F. B. Johnson and M. E. B. Van Meter, suffered serious injuries at the Schnectaday New York General Electric plant last week. Johnson suffered a crushed leg after being caught in a belt. Van Meter burned on hand and arm from an arc light flame after a switch short circuited. Memorial Service for Senator Dolliver Held at College

A memorial service for Senator Jonathan P. Dolliver was held at the regular chapel hour this morning. A quartette sang Nearer My God to Thee and Dr. Cessna offered prayer. Short talks were given by Dr. Cessna and President Stanton before a chapel filled with students.
