Bob Clark a clothing department clerk at the Fair store received a severe finger wound when a loaded revolver in his pocket discharged as he dressed to leave after work. The bullet pierced his middle finger and then four layers of a ladies cloak before lodging in the ceiling. The accident occurred as the gun struck a chair while he hurried to don his overcoat.
Frank Molnar's play The Devil, hailed as a sensational NY theatrical event, is scheduled for November 28 1908 at the opera house.
Hank Wilkinson resigned as night marshal last Monday morning after the new administration took effect. Mayor Tilsden appointed Tom Fultz to replace him, with Fultz on night duty and Thompson remaining as day marshal. No details were given on Hank’s plans after retirement.
The inter class cross country event at Iowa State College will be held Saturday morning. Runners start near Ontario, follow public highways, and return along the same five mile course. Times expected range from thirty five minutes to an hour.

James Cormican Jr brings Frak Molnar's The Devil to the opera house for a night's engagement on Monday November 23 1908. The play has set box office records in New York at the Garden and Belasco theaters and has become a metropolitan as well as European sensation. The Devil features the symbolist Mephisto figure Dr Miller who proclaims his origin as nowhere and his destination as nowhere while entwining a man and woman in a trap of modern evil and cunning.
Ames schedules a game against Drake University in Des Moines for next Thursday afternoon. The matchup marks a regional clash as both teams vie for a key early season win.
In district court at Nevada on Tuesday F. F. Rogers sued John Judge for 308 dollars in wages from the Judge restaurant closure. After hearing evidence the judge withdrew the jury and ruled for the defendant.

Miss Hilda Orland has accepted the post as chief operator of the Iowa telephone exchange in the city, succeeding Miss Sarah Hilda who resigned last Saturday evening.
