Hand Amputation After Huskers Mishap Near Ames
D Sowers lost his left hand after his fingers and hand were mangled in a corn husking machine he operated in Nevada near Ames. By noon, surgeons decided a amputation at the wrist was necessary and Dr Proctor from Ames administered anaesthetic. Sowers, son of W Sowers, lives on the Nevada road six miles east of Ames and is a well known member of the Mono Clan with many friends who mourn the misfortune.

Fire destroys Sam Bower home in cold siege
