Dairy cattle sale shows strong demand and rising prices
The October 31 stock sale drew strong demand for cows with good milking qualities. Prices ranged 40 to 50 dollars per head for well bodied cows with large udders, up from 30 to 35 two years ago. Jersey type cows in medium size led the market, with Grade Jerseys around 1200 pounds selling better than recent New York consignments. Short horns from milking families also sold well.
