Des Moines reports the Presbyterian General Assembly compromised to adopt the Book of Forms without official authorization or endorsement. The plan, led by Mr. Van Dyke, removed wording implying assembly approval. Dr. William F. McCauley and Dr. James D. Moffat influenced changes, reducing opposition as votes finalized.
Word arrives of the instant death of former Boone resident Mrs. Bob Allen. While seeking shelter in a cellar during a severe wind storm at her Blair Nebraska home, she was struck by lightning and killed. In Mahaska county near the Monroe mining camp, Leonard Roberts is shot by Tom Elmore after a taunt about a cigar. Elmore fired a 44 caliber revolver wounding Roberts. Elmore fled but remained at large as officers were alerted by Roberts’ family. Dozens witnessed the incident amid a crowd.
A wagon team driven by C Adams bolted after following a disk pulverizer and ran into it, cutting the team to pieces. Adams has suffered a series of injuries previously including an eye destroyed by acid, a broken arm and leg, finger amputation, and blood poisoning.

Fort Dodge reports Frank Ware, porter at the Crawford hotel, received a deep scalp wound from a pocket knife during a quarrel with former employee Charles St Clair. In the lodging quarters the struggle ended with Ware’s skull laid bare. the injury is not expected to be serious.
Congressman Cousins was renominated for the eighth consecutive time by acclamation in Cedar Rapids. Resolutions praised prosperity under the Dingley law. A reciprocity plank from Marshall County was not adopted by the resolutions committee and was not reported to the convention. Standout resolutions were adopted unanimously.
Chas Gunsche, a young farm hand, was accidentally shot in the right great toe by Mr. Miller, his employer, during a gopher hunting outing on the farm. The incident occurred on the working property and appears unintentional.
J D Johnson veteran engineer of the C B and Q was killed at a street crossing while looking from the cab window of his locomotive. A passing switch engine struck him, severing his head. The incident occurred in Burlington and involved a prominent street arousing scene.
On a Webster City farm G C Lemon and George of Flugetad were driving fence posts when the son accidentally struck his father's hand with a sledge hammer. The hand was mashed, the man fell to the ground, and the son, believing he had killed him, was overcome with distress.

While en route with produce, the team driven by Mrs. Mary Gavett balked and bolted in Davenport, throwing her to the ground and causing severe injuries.

Lima Ohio May 27 The grand jury voted thirty four indictments against nineteen bridge companies and agents accused of conspiring in a trust to overcharge for bridges in Allen county. When service is completed the indicted names will be made public.
