The past week was cold and wet with above normal rainfall. The daily mean temperature fell 3 to 5 degrees below normal and southern districts saw very heavy rain soil already saturated. Planting corn made little progress except in favored localities. central and southern areas may not finish plowing and planting until after June 1. Germination failures and replanting likely. pastures meadows and spring grain crops benefit from the moisture.
