Weather Recap: Cool Week Brings Frost Damage Across Districts

The past week brought abnormally cool conditions with killing frosts on the mornings of the 6th and 7th. Minimum temperatures fell below freezing at many stations and tender fruit crops may have suffered damage. In about a third of the state western and northern areas saw above normal rainfall while overall conditions favored plowing and field prep. The cool spell delayed corn planting but farming work progressed.

Progress in southern and eastern districts and farming outlook

Reports show progress in grass and small grain crops with good prospects for planting in fair weather next week. Measured gains in meadows and pastures are noted as wheat oats and barley areas are largest.
