Morris Injured After Horse Kicks Head

School Superintendent Chosen After Board Deliberation
After careful deliberation the city school board selected F W Hicks to succeed F E King. Hicks, a Cornell graduate, impressed the committee during visits to Clear Lake and Emmetsburg and was elected at the Thursday board meeting. He began rural schooling work in 1896 and served as principal in Fairfax from 1898 to 1900.

Death of J. K. Macomber at Des Moines
J. K. Macomber died at his Des Moines home after a two week illness. He was highly regarded in both Des Moines and Ames. His wife Mattie Locke Macomber, a member of the college’s first class, also is noted for her travel work with tours abroad. A May 2 departure from Boston with twenty two travelers included Miss Margaret Stanton of Ames.

Rural carrier badly injured in Ames horse accident
At about 8 30 this morning rural mail carrier W Hoon was thrown from his cart when a new horse bolted near the college grounds Friends Church. He was unconscious but later brought home and is resting well with good recovery prospects.
