Local items report Smith & Cramer forming a real estate partnership buying McIntire gallery property for the Elwell residence on Burnett street and other parcel exchanges. Quarantine, travel, and public notices mix with personal updates on births, relocations, health, and upcoming events in Ames and surrounding towns.
The Ames school board posted notices after a special session proposing bonds not to exceed 7000 dollars to enlarge and repair the high school building. Architect Frank Fidler advised plans to add two rooms on each corner and create a 150-seat assembly room by reconfiguring the second floor. The district currently has no debt and expects about 5000 dollars needed for alterations.
Mrs. G. K. Cameron is among the sick this week. Embree bought a lot north of Rev. MelIntyre. Prof. R. G. Cole of Grinnell and Miss Grace La Vinia Clark of Des Moines have been secured for the March 22 pipe organ dedication at the Congregational church.
Qualified voters of Ames are urged to meet at Read's Hall on Wednesday March 14 at 8 PM to nominate candidates for mayor treasurer assessor and solicitor. Ward caucus locations will be announced if different. By order of committee.
