Town of Jordan Consumed by Fire Near Ames
The town of Jordan a station west of Ames on the Northwestern was nearly wiped out by a Thursday afternoon blaze. On Monday he was taken to Methodist hospital in Des Moines and operated on for appendicitis by Drs Christ of Ames and Smouse and Baker of Des Moines. The Ames high school events filled the Armory last Friday with a lively program by the class and a large audience. Sunday evening’s baccalaureate by Dr. Storms drew perhaps the largest crowd yet, his message about not stopping at inns of pleasure but pressing onward. Music featured a mixed quartet and Prof. Dickey’s solo with Mrs. Shane on organ. The alumni banquet served 148 guests with toastmaster Howard Hill introducing each speaker. Toasts included Welcome to the Puckwudgies, Thank You, From Those in Control, Be a Booster, and "20." Commencement is tonight at the Methodist church.
