Stillwell Cole Wedding in Ames Silent Ceremony

Miss Nellie Cole and Mr John D Stillwell wed last evening at 8 30 in the North street home with Rev F D Ferrall officiating. A quiet ceremony for about thirty five guests featured a two course wedding supper. The bride, a former Ames public school teacher, and the groom, recently graduated in veterinary studies at Iowa State College, received many gifts and best wishes for a happy life together.

Lyman A Crane Pioneer Passes. Funeral in Kelley

Lyman Arthur Crane born December 27 1831 in Courtland County New York. He married Julia Shields March 1 1865 and moved to Jones County Iowa then Story County near Kelley where he lived most of his life until death July 1 1905. Survived by six children and his wife died in 1902. Funeral at the Kelley home July 3 at 1 PM conducted by Rev Waiter I Fowle Ames Iowa. Interment in Ames Cemetery.

City Council Refers Drain Petition and Names Actions

At a regular meeting the council referred the J G Cutler drain petition to the sewer committee and Engineer McDonald. The sewer committee and McDonald were ordered to study sewerage disposal for the fourth ward. The city engin er matter was sent to the street and alley committee. An ordinance setting construction time for cement walks was adopted for Boone Oak Center Hanover Carroll Daff and Lincoln streets. The water tank was ordered cleaned and the street and alley committee authorized to buy two wheel scrapers.

Akin Farm Sold Near Ames For 23000 Dollars

The Geo. Akin farm, comprising 240 acres five miles southwest of Ames, was sold to Peter Pantenberg of La Salle County Illinois for 23000 dollars. The well-improved property, tiled and near the hundred dollar per acre mark, will be moved to by the buyer who plans to reside there.

Ames Chau Tauqua Session Planned for August 9 to 18

The Ames Chau Tauqua Association will hold its second session in Ames from August 9 to 18 with Hon. W J Bryan opening lectures and other speakers including Mark Guy Pearse and Bishop C Mccabe. The program features music, lectures, Bible study daily and a Ministerial Congress, with non transferable season tickets on sale at 1.50 for adults and 1.00 for children aged 8 to 16, valid before August 4.

Juvenile dramatic club stages Sleeping Beauty in Wilkins Opera House

A juvenile dramatic club presented The Sleeping Beauty at Wilkin son’s ground floor opera house between Douglass and Burnett north recently. General admission cost one penny and reserved seats two pennies, netting eighty cents. The funds were given to Miss Freed city librarian for a library check, honoring the children’s effort. The cast included Harriet Wilkinson as Sleeping Beauty and Violet Pammel as Bad Fairy with Harold Pammel and John Wilkinson in supporting roles.
