Silver supporters hold a two thirds majority and blocked the committee's choice by elevating Senator Daniel of Virginia as chairman over Senator Hill of New York. Bland of Missouri and Boies of Iowa lead for nomination. the platform will endorse free silver.
A Prexie party and several picnics marked a perfect Saturday of Fourth of July celebrations in Story City and nearby areas. Train service ran in two sections to handle traffic while crowds gathered at Blomington and WwW P George's Grove for music and fireworks. Story City won a baseball game 5 to 3 against Webster City, with a strong turnout and lively evening displays across the town.
