At the Clark residence in Superior on December 26 1927 twin sisters Mabel and Maud Clark wed James G Richmond and Leonard H Westering. A Mendelssohn march accompanied the ceremony directed by Rev J W Embree. The event included a five course luncheon and out of town guests from multiple Nebraska towns.

Short Course a Big Success at Town State College
The week long stock and grain judging course at Town State College drew about a thousand participants. Meat expert John Gosling of Kansas City delivered talks on butcher stock and meat demonstration. Forestry lectures drew record interest with topics on orchard by products windbreaks and grape culture. An intertag lecture on horticulture in the Upper Mississippi Valley was presented by Professor Green along with talks on fence post preservatives and home grounds ornamentation.

Trustees Seek Big Funding For Iowa State College Projects
The Iowa State College trustees met in regular session and approved requests totaling 345000 for 1908 legislation. Funds cover central heating tunnels Margaret hall addition engineering laboratory agricultural hall furnishings dairy and poultry equipment and cement work plus maintenance for a summer school and water system upgrades. Several faculty changes and a leave for Miss Elizabeth Maclean were announced along with a dedication ceremony for the dairy building by 125 attendees. A proposed assembly hall for Agricultural hall is to be funded from mill levy proceeds with Schleuter Co. option valid to May 1.

Vogt Couple Celebrate Twenty Fifth Wedding Anniversary
Mr and Mrs Ben Vogt near Ames celebrated their silver wedding anniversary on New Year’s day at home. Six sons three daughters and many neighbors gathered for games stories and refreshments including plum butter pie preserves coffee and apple jack. Neighbors left engraved silverware as commemorative tokens before departing.

The Ames Volunteer Fire Company held a regular meeting on Tuesday night January 20 and elected officers for the coming year. Cates B E served as foreman Marion Cupps assistant foreman A S Spring secretary and treasurer Howard Adams. Cupps appointed the station and hydrant crews. Bert Ball and Chas Watkins were recommended for appointment. A supplies list was presented to the city council and the meeting adjourned to January 16 for the next session.
