Summary of December 1897 observations by Isaac Young for the Ames Times. Temperatures ranged from 46 high on the 9th to 26 below on the 18th, with a mean monthly temperature of 19 degrees and a total precipitation of 1.80 inches from eight snow days. Wind was northwest with parhelia noted on several days. Recap shows 21.76 inches of yearly precipitation from March to December.
