Life of Samuel Watt Dies in Ames at 99
Samuel Watt, a longtime Ames resident and respected local figure, died December 20 at his home after years of poor health. Born March 19, 1826 in Girbin Ayrshire Scotland, he came to the United States in 1865 and settled in Story County. He and his wife observed their golden wedding on December 9. He belonged to the Presbyterian church in Scotland and later joined the M E church in Ames. Funeral services were held at the family residence with J B McIntire officiating.
