W M Greeley of Ames Iowa announces candidacy for Representative from county in the republican primary. Statement dated March 28 1901.
Republican electors of Story County Iowa are notified of a primary election on Saturday April 27 1901 from 3 to 6 pm at usual precinct voting places for county offices and a county convention to be held in Nevada on May 4 1901. Delegates to the county convention are based on precinct votes and McKinley support from the 1900 general election. Also a local sale notice mentions canned fruit at 15 cents per can.
Tax Times reports W F Briggs of Nevada as a county supervisor candidate with Briggs McLain and Silliman in the field. It notes the Nevada Journal reaching seven years, the Benjamins’ success, and Iowa Charities session in Red Oak considering uniting Children’s Homes. Hull heads to the Philippines for three months. Funston praised by McKinley. Wilson praised by Curtis. A plan to hire graduates as government assistants begins with 50 Agricultural Department trainees at $40 monthly for two years, selected by merit in chemistry biology botany and related fields.
