A misprint in last week’s Times set the civil service board exam for city mail carriers on April 18. The correct date is Saturday April 11, to be held in Odd Fellows Temple dining hall. The notice urges residents to include house or business numbers on correspondence and stationery for timely delivery in Ames after June first. Tur Des Moines News covered Prouty campaign ties to Story county leaders. Prouty was not an issue this election.

The carpenter shop and forge foundry at Iowa State College occupy single story brick buildings with extensive equipment. Carved benches, 16 lathes, saws, planers, and electric motors serve 40 students, while the forge and foundry feature 12 forgs, a cupola, brass furnace, and core oven. The machine shop spans 3000 feet with multiple lathes and grinders. Over 300 students are enrolled, with instruction led by two instructors.
