The county Central Committee announced GOP meeting dates at multiple school houses across townships from Sept 28 to Oct 6. Notables include W H Gallup, Geo Tilden, J Watts, and J L Stevens among others.

Seed oats offered at 60 cents a bushel for White Schonen oats weighing 40 kg per bushel. Seed sourced from the Patent Office and ripening about a week earlier than common oats. The note references Nishawaka as a growing manufacturing town of 4,000 inhabitants and is directed to KR. Witswata of Nishawaka Ind.
This public notice reports a sheriff sale of J H Miller and W J Freed property including six milch cows one red Duram bull several other stock to satisfy a debt of 804.43 plus costs at 10 percent interest. It also states Story County Board of Supervisors voting to increase the number of supervisors to five and the procedure for ballot wording at the October 1877 election.
County Auditor Joan R. Hays orders re submission of a police regulation question to voters at the next general election on October Mth 1877. Voters shall mark Yes for Shall stock be restrained from running at large and No for the opposite. If majority approves the regulation remains in force. if rejected, the regulation ends in ninety days. Existing winter and night laws remain unchanged.
