Nightmarish gas scare saves Derby dog and cat
Derby druggist John H Hartwell awoke from a nightmare to find his store filled with gas and his dog and cat seemingly dead. He revived the dog outdoors and the cat revived as air entered the store. Investigation found the gas leak caused by a disconnected stove tube. Gas lights burning alone prompted his timely arrival to prevent an explosion. Man, dog, and cat are ill.
