Death of Mary Jones Typhoid Victim Near Ontario
Mary Jones daughter of Geo Jones died of typhoid fever at her father's home three miles north of Ontario on Thursday Oct 24. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Ontario Christian church conducted by Rev Hickey. Born in Story County she taught for years in Story Sac and Buena Vista counties. She was twenty eight. She left many friends with the sorrow of her relatives.

Obituary of Reuben Tripp Birth and Settling Details
Reuben Tripp born March 10 1828 in Columbia County New York settled Cedar County in 1841 married Mary Keirh in 1873 later moved to Story County where he died suddenly last Saturday morning. Funeral conducted by J K Hester at the Christian church. The service drew many friends noting his manly, sociable nature. Schools closed this week as teachers visit Chicago to study new methods in an annual Boone Ames joint vacation. Superintendent Miller and Principal Culbertson planned the trip with teachers from both towns riding on a special car. The Ames teaching force took paid leave to gain insights for better work. Mrs Til den, school board president, and other officials joined the excursion.
