Druggist Mr Cagwin calls it the most successful remedy he has sold for prompt relief and cure and invites requests for samples and displays of cures. The ad ends with a vague moral aside about promises and sunshine.
Rhodes endures as a mediaeval city still ringed by towers curtains and keeps. The Knights of St John built the formidable defenses after the loss of Jerusalem in the early fourteenth century. Travelers may not grasp how well preserved these fortifications and dwellings remain.
