Prainage Ventilation Health Address at Des Moines
Dr. Robertson, president of the Town board of health, argues impure water supply drives disease and proper sanitation can prevent many deaths. He cites 1870 census mortality 492,263, with half from miasms of soil saturation and stagnant water and asserts drainage could save 75,000 lives. He urges ventilation and sanitation reforms to start a state movement.
