Water and sewer pipes on Main street are being connected to mains as six new hydrants and ten catch basins are installed. Old sewer lines between Kellogg and Burnett Avenue are being replaced. lead pipes must be updated to curb line. The extensive work will leave Main street torn up until paving begins by June first, but will yield a permanent, sound underground system for Ames.

Bert Childs Returns From Illness To Ames Visit
Bert Childs, secretary of the Iowa State Rural Mail Carriers association, visited Ames on Saturday to see Vice President Hoon, who was badly hurt in a runaway incident last week. Childs, recently released from a three month illness, has regained fifty pounds and works on correspondence for the state convention set for late August and early September. Delegates will be chosen at May 20 county meetings, and interest in the convention is high. The program will be completed soon.
