It notes Mrs. Ross moving to Des Moines to live with daughter Mrs. Nettie Keigley and mentions permanent residence at the capital. Brerton & Huntingron touts boots shoes slippers with a ten thousand dollar stock to be sold.
Master Frank Lucas lies confined to bed as bile buildup persists though aided by strong medical staff. Doctors expect his recovery.

The ladies of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society host a basket sociable at the M E Church on Thursday evening next March 27. A cordial invitation is extended to all and baskets will be available at the church Monday evening.
Breenam & Co presents The True Blue an historic border warfare drama in Missouri and Kansas during the war at Opera Hall Ames the first week in April. G A R Post of Ames manages with M B Miller supported by Cora Hunt and Flora Melton.

Twenty one young girls gathered at Mrs Black’s house last Saturday afternoon to celebrate Grandma Benneman’s 112th birthday. Grandma received many small gifts and enjoyed games and songs with the children, who wished her as many birthdays as she has had.

To the Editor Tax In Tencescer. The C P Church in this place and vicinity thanks the members and friends for a large donation on the evening of the 14th. A crowd of about 200 from Zenorville and Ames gathered at the church with baskets and supplies. Donors contributed about $85 in cash plus groceries and goods totaling $110, plus a Christmas tree gift valued at $40. Such favors are appreciated.

Delegates to the Cal Convention met amid factional strife as nine colleges were expected to send reps for an oratorical contest at Foster's Opera House. The program featured speakers from Iowa College Simpson Centenary Cornell College Western College Coe College and Oskaloosa College with judges and ample audience interest.
A letter from Sheldahl Iowa argues against reports in the Iowa State Register and Tuz LyTELLIGENCER accusing the Iowa Agricultural College trustees of replacing Gen Geddes with an ex rebel officer. The writer asserts Col John Scott an ex Union colonel filled Geddes place yet never drilled cadets, and notes Gov Kirkwood and Willard opposed President Welch’s removal.

The railroad tank operator found a tag for a fine Swiss watch in a tobacco plug from H. B. Hawley & Co. The firm stocks much tobacco in Ames. Each butt yields a ticket for a watch or sewing machine. The tobacco, named Honest, is popular with users.

Miss Tiluison closed her school in the Shields school house last week after a winter of perfect service. The Democratic Convention to select delegates to the National Convention will be held in Burlington on April 2. The Stewart Wilberforce Grand Concert Company will perform in Ames on April 10.

At a March 15 1884 meeting in Ames Iowa Ellsworth Post 30 GA R unanimously adopted preambles and resolutions protesting Congress over restoring Fitz John Porter to citizenship and opposing the appointment of an ex rebel officer to Iowa State Agricultural College. The post affirms no special rewards for traitors and pledges continued advocacy and ballot action. requests publication in National Tribune Grand Army Advocate Des Moines Register and Ames Intelligencer.

Sold by Worth and Co and Ed Barstow with Shiloh’s Cough and Consumption Cure offering a consumption cure and Shiloh’s Vitalizer advertised for various symptoms at three dollars and seventy five cents per bottle.
Last Friday night March 14 a parish fundraiser at the Presbyterian Church raised about 75 in cash and 35 in merchandise for Rev McCall and family. Gilbert Bros shipped stock cars this week and C M Wilson recovered from bowel inflammation. W K Barnes and James Johnson visited relatives. Johnson moved west per Horace Greeley. railroad switch lights improved operations for the railroad crew.
