Convicts awarded clemency for literary achievement in Kansas
Carl Arnold and William Harvey, convicted of the Kinsley mayor murder as youths, are set for release after Governor Hoch commuted their sentences to 18 years. Arnold's book The Kansas Inferno and poems spurred the clemency, with Arnold later sending a letter and a Shakespearean poem to the governor as part of the appeal.
