In Yorktown Arkansas on March 7 an advertisement touts Dodd's Kidney Pills as a new kidney disease remedy. Dr Leland Williamson endorses the pills for kidney diseases back pain and urine issues citing cured patients including farmer Robert Weeks after six weeks of use. The piece blends medical testimonial with a Punch magazine interjection.
An advertisement extols Moravian Barley and Speltz for fattening hogs and cattle across Dakotas and states, touting Salzer’s Billion Dollar Grass Teosinte and other seeds. Readers urged to cut out the ad and mail 10 cents to John A Salzer Co. at La Crosse Wisconsin for seed samples. In Chickasaw county district court Annie Drew was sentenced to 15 months in Anamosa for bigamy after marrying Frank Canfield in February following a prior marriage to A W Drew. Frank Canfield received 18 months for adultery. In Council Bluffs a special election granted the Council Bluffs, Tabor & Southern Railway a franchise to build to Rockport Missouri with service hoped to reach Glenwood or Tabor by October.
