Rev Blackman hosts a Sunday evening symposium on whether a business career justifies time and money for college. Among 25 business men responses vary from no to yes unconditionally, with arguments for and against college education and its impact on honesty, discipline, citizenship, and long term business success. The item includes other Nebraska and Kane County notes and local notices.
Mr. Blackman argues education cannot be burned or stolen and broadens the view for greater success. He cautions against judging by individuals, outlines college aims, including training faculties, broadening life, and developing habits of application and perseverance.
The Story County Veteran association holds its annual encampment in Nevada on Thursday and Friday in 1898 with events at 4 and 5 o clock. An excursion from Nevada to Port Arthur Texas on July 5 costs 20 dollars round trip, including sleeper from Kansas City. Contact Z Shugart, Nevada agent for Pittsburg and Gulf road, to join.
Jefferson Souvenir reports Miss Mertie Mason wed John B. Kooser a leading Ames businessman. Ceremony at 8 pm led by Rev A B Buckner with roses and lace decor. After reception guests sent them by 11 pm train to their new North Ames home. Friends wish them well and Miss Mason praised for congenial spirit.
