The Story County Veteran association announces its annual encampment to be held in Nevada on Thursday and Friday August 4 and 5 1898 by order Hamilton and Hammond Adjutant. An excursion from Nevada to Port Arthur Texas and return is offered July 5 for 20 dollars including sleeper Kansas City to Port Arthur and back. Interested participants should see Z Shugart Nevada agent for Pittsburg and Gulf road. A rare opportunity at a little under one cent per mile.
Miss Mertie Mason wed John B. Kooser in a Thursday ceremony at her Jefferson home. Rev A B Buckner officiated as roses and lace framed the couple. Guests toasted the new union then sent them off on the 11 pm train to begin life in Ames.
