End of Long Peralta Grant Fraud Suit
The vast Peralta grant covering 12 465 000 acres in Arizona and New Mexico was decided for the government after a three week trial. The court ruled all title papers forged and that San Salvador mission records were forged to link the claimant's wife to the Peralta family. Chief Justice Reed said it was unnecessary to identify Mrs. Peralta Reavis, only that she was not an heir or suit claimant. Reavis was arrested on false claim charges. This ends a major fraud spanning more than 25 years.
