Sunday School and prayer meetings announced with weekly timing. The notice lists morning and evening services led by Pastor J Everly with sessions at 8 00 o clock and ongoing weekly gatherings.

Mr O O Roe and children of Des Moines celebrated in Story City. Mrs Wm McGill and baby of Gilpert visited Dr and Mrs W Allen Tuesday through Thursday. Miss Kate Boyd, earlier treated in Boone, spends the week at home. Marshal Wellington, with search warrants, raided the town Tuesday afternoon at the North Western depot seizing twenty eight ponies then carting them to the city jail. He also took keys at the Central depot and returned them after Egenes advised they were for private use. Charlie Wiggins’ cellar searched. he not present in business. Sheriff telegraphed and arrives at midnight hauling the tanglefoot to Nevada.
Collins Clipper reports Geo Belt underbid all rivals except one and secure Nosland 6 school houses project at 893 dollars. Four sewing machine agents canvassed town, selling few machines with buyers paying ten to fifteen dollars more than cheaper dealer grades. Strikes threaten Pullman, but Pullman doubts collapse. Wage earners err, prompting bread cries. capitalism grips wage earners. What fools we mortals be.

Siater News reports Miss Nellie Johnson visiting Aunt Nellie Danielson in Ames this week. Des Moines visitors Mrs M A Sharp and son Harry stay with cousin Mrs F P Bryant. All spent the fourth with relatives near Ames. John Johnson and family and Mrs Hanson of Kelly celebrated in Slater with John Nelson's. A. Cook, Kelly grain dealer, was in Slater Monday. Slater marked July 4 with residents dividing allegiance among nearby towns, Huxley receiving the largest share.
Nevada Iowa reports Mrs W O Payne visiting Madison county with her brother in law family and traveling via the Co B Q to Thayer Ohio. Mrs W P Payne suffers a knee injury seven weeks after a cartilage bruise requiring crutches. Mrs M C Allen at Clinton hospital survives a critical operation. Grace Dyer returns from a concert tour and will vacation at home. Prof L G Weld and wife visit from State University for a week. Honey Creek, blamed for Boone county sickness, has been cleaned but health concerns persist despite a 25 certificate from the State Board of Health engineer.
Dr Brown erects a sizeable cave on his residence lots and expects completion before the next cyclone. Commissioner Bean has just finished a new sidewalk across the run south of the railroad, improving that area. G E Lang of Marshalltown visits with his daughter Florence and R A Fitch’s family. Florence hasn’t seen her father in eight years. At the Republican County Convention in Nevada last Saturday, the ticket included Charles Hamilton clerk of the court D M Grove auditor Antin Ersland recorder and F D Thompson county attorney.
