Ames plans a sensible Fourth of July with picnics across the town and college. Citizens will mark the day with orderly gatherings rather than firecrackers.

The Millionaire club plans a picnic at Frank Graves' Squaw Creek park. The Declaration of Independence will be read by a member and Mayor Sheldon will deliver patriotic remarks. A chorus will sing national anthems and Milo Mannings Imperial Concert band will provide instrumental music. M. K. Smith will be drum major and Captain Poems will serve as president of the ay.

Interurban service starts Ames to Des Moines and Boone

The long awaited interurban began operating with regular Ames Boone and Ames Des Moines routes. The first car reached Ames Saturday evening and departed for Boone at 7 30 PM. Monday morning inaugurations expanded service with many riders and mileage tickets sold including the first family pass to David Ives.

GOOD JOB IN DIXIE A J Norman of the 1906 class at I S C has been chosen as horticulturist at the Agricultural college at Auburn Alabama. He will take up his work there in August. He previously worked in a large nursery in Nebr as part of his early career and chose the southern post for college work. Construction plans for Onondaga street line move forward with service to the town center before the college loop is built. A temporary time card for the new line follows.
