The Board of Supervisors certify the county treasurer’s settlement covering June 1 1802 to December 31 1802. It confirms balances on hand, receipts from all sources, and vouchers. auditors counted cash and bank balances and found them correct.
Judge Thayer advocates national progress in road building citing England and France. He urges ending local control, adopting a centralized plan, and states the need to invest a fixed amount per mile of road, to ensure permanent, well maintained highways.
A pamphlet on alcoholic disease by Charles McKenzie of Dunlap Iowa is offered free to any address upon request from The Keeley Institute Des Moines Iowa. It promotes treatment and provides contact details for obtaining the pamphlet.
Farm Journal extols the dairy cow for twice daily rich milk and steady nine to eleven month production, urging compassion and proper care for the animal.
Col Keatley commandant of the Iowa Soldier's Home has entertained residents with a lecture on Alaska Indians learned during two years there. He later spoke about Behring Sea seal life and sealing at St Paul and St George islands in a 45 minute session. The home members value these programs and more talks are planned.

A twenty three year old archeologist from Atchison Kansas, George Remsburg, has earned a growing reputation by writing Prehistoric Man in Kansas. He discovered eleven mysterious mounds along the Missouri River, uncovering a complete skeleton and numerous relics. The relics are thought to belong to the Mayas, ancient inhabitants of Yucatan.
Dr. John C. Sundberg of San Francisco accepts the post of American consul at Bagdad not for salary but to pursue science. He receives Smithsonian Institution and University of Pennsylvania support and hopes Turkish permission to excavate ruins on the Tigris.

The Harvard Annex has grown from its 1879 start with 25 students and 29 classes to nearly 300 students in the current fall. It now houses in Fay house after expanding from two rooms, with 70 plus instructors drawn from Harvard and other colleges. Tuition and endowment funds funded operations, and the 1892-93 year saw 241 students, 113 institutions represented, and broad gains across languages, sciences, and arts.
