Pioneer Loyal H. Bingham Laid To Rest In Ames
Loyal H. Bingham born Milton Wisconsin June 18 1848 came to Ames in 1873 built a hardware business for 25 years later moved to Dakota for health and died January 11 of Bright's disease in Mercy hospital. He served Ames Congregational church as trustee choir superintendent and building committee and was active in Masonic order with a large funeral at the Congregational church conducted by Rev W J Minchin.

Double Sorrow for Bisbee Family in Ames
Mrs. E L Bisbee of Kellogg street mourns the death of her son Demont an engineer in Missouri Valley yards. She attended his funeral Tuesday after a sudden collapse earlier. Her husband and four children survive with worry over another son Bert a Tucson area chemist reported injured with uncertain leg injuries. The Bisbee brothers were raised in Ames and many friends feel the blow.

Rosenbaum Scholarships Awarded at International Livestock Show
Prof McLean of the animal husbandry department announced Rosenbaum scholarships totaling 200 dollars for I. A. C. The two prizes of 125 and 75 dollars went to Chadler of Marshall county and Mr Quaife of Kellerton Ringgold county. Thirty three contestants from twenty eight counties entered, showing strong statewide interest in scholarship contests.

The Iowa Corn Growers Association sale closed with a record ear of corn sold for one hundred dollars. D L Pascal of De Witt Iowa paid the high price for an ear from his own entry, which became association property then sold. Ten ears from Eddison Bennet sold for thirty dollars. the event netted strong prices overall.

Live Stock Selling Draws Cattle Hogs From Ames

Girl Steals From Ames Family Then Flees to Chicago
Friday evening A B Sims of Ames was robbed of 12 dollars by a girl who had worked for him and cared for his children. She had been known as a domestic for Geo Armstrong. After the man’s wife died last fall he faced many troubles and employed the girl for household duties. The theft occurred when Sims waited at four thirty and she promised to return by eight. Missing items were found after a search of the house. The girl later took the train to Chicago and no arrest has been made.
