Train wreck in Iowa leaves several injured and one dead

A westbound Illinois Central passenger train derailed about twelve miles west of Fort Dodge on January 2. The crash killed Mrs. J. H. Smith and injured C. L. Turner among others. investigators blamed the accident on track conditions as surgeons aided survivors and the coroner cleared the company of blame.

Record of extreme cold across U S towns and incidents

Reports from January 4 to 7 detail record lows from Chicago to Sioux Falls with many towns under 40 degrees below zero. The same period notes a broken rail near Valparaiso injuring six, various court actions, deaths and disappearances, railroad and railway disputes, and a wave of accidents, fires, and economic distress across states and Canada.

Home Remedy for Warts and Corns

Instructions advise applying a little vinegar on the wart and covering it with baking soda or saleratus, then placing a set of as many signs as possible on it and letting it sit ten minutes several times daily. After three days the wart may disappear and the method is claimed to be painless for corns as well.
