A list of residents and relatives visiting Des Moines Chicago Williamson West Virginia and other towns on business or for family events. Several returns from travels, illnesses, and social gatherings are noted along with a few local society announcements and a missing pin reward.
Local brief fills with missing details covering missing property reward for a found watch near Douglass and Pearl streets, church meeting schedules for the Christian church, and a long letter praising home merchants over catalogue houses. It notes bowling results, a personal injury suit in district court, and social events including open houses and a banquet.
Mrs D J Jeffrey died at her Lynn Street home New Year’s morning after a six week illness from heart trouble and pneumonia. Funeral at her house conducted by Rev Nye with many friends present. Rev Smith and Rev Jeffrey of Chicago attended. She was born Sarah Caroline Vance in Ohio July 12 1851 and died aged 53 years 5 months 15 days. She taught primary Sabbath school since age fifteen and was State Superintendent of Primary Sabbath School Work. Survived by husband Dr J A Jeffrey and daughter Mrs Nellie Goodenough of Cole. Remains taken to Corning for burial.

A Kicker reports rumors that Jesse Campbell secretary of the Chautauqua Association claimed brimstone in water at Chautauqua Park. Owner Dan McCarthy demands Campbell’s resignation, threatening to break the contract if not acted on. Citizens urge resolution and mass meeting to resolve the dispute.
Members approve a revival starting next Sunday evening January 8 at the Ames M. E. Church led by Rev. A. M. Shea with assistants. The church favors the pastor conducting the revival over external evangelists and hopes for strong soul winning. Citizens are invited to attend and help build the kingdom.
The Farmers Institute at Maxwell Opera House announces a three day program January 24 25 26 1905 with papers on seed corn incubation dairy farming and domestic economy plus discussions led by W M Black Asa Turner Prof P G Holden and others. Real estate transfers and local notices accompany the program.
Lloyd 7:20 outlines a program featuring Geo W White secretary, James E Hull leading general discussion, and Thomas Swalwell handling the question box. The session centers on the institute's value to farmers and related topics.
