Seed corn prospects darken as weather past and present hit Iowa
Professor P. G. Holden, the world’s leading corn expert, argues that the government corn report is misleading. He cites a long dry spell, heavy rains, a freeze, bad roads, and late gathering as wrecking seed corn supplies. He says most harvested corn moulded in cribs and urges farmers for information on any seed corn that survived. He plans winter courses to locate areas with viable seed and asks the Intelligencer to lobby Iowa farmers to aid in finding successful tests.
