Old People and the V.8 Patent Remedy Tale

A column recounts a sensational testimonial for V8 tonic as a superior remedy for the aged and frail, contrasting it with sarsaparilla and mineral potash. It narrates Mrs Belden of Mason Street who recovered strength after using V8, and mixes in humorous asides about fashion and a Tacoma Post Office anecdote involving Miss Margaret J Reese. The piece touches storage advice for pianos, a sea serpent report, and assorted diversions from the era, all in a rambling compilation typical of late 19th century newspapers.
