Corn and oat yields influenced by late-season weather
The past week ran above normal temperatures with 90 degree winds on the 8th and 9th sparking damage fears to maturing corn. Cooler days and scattered showers offered some relief and rainfall aided about one third of the state, especially the north. Half the state shows corn damage from heat and drought since August, but timely rains and favorable balance could yield an overall satisfactory crop. Threshing reports show oats and other small grains unusually heavy.
