Climate and Crop Bulletin for Des Moines Aug 1900
The week ending Aug 6 1900 was warmer than usual with 5 to 7 degree daily excess and little rain except light showers in the northeast. Conditions favor grain in shock and reduce damage from prior excessive rains. corn is benefitting from dry hot weather, though late planted corn on thin soil needs rain soon. August crop reports show corn 105 percent, millet 98, flax 95, sorghum 97, apples 70, potatoes 95, pastures 97. 1899 late conditions varied for comparison. Prof Ott may deliver a lecture later this season.
