County Supervisors Hear Bridge Funds and Taxes Remitted
The Story County Iowa Board of Supervisors met in four days of April 1881 sessions. They approved auditor warrants, approved bridge fund spendings for Indian Creek and Skunk River, remitted taxes for George Mather and James Hoffman, granted tax remission petitions, granted Ames and Nevada Telephone Company rights to lay lines, inspected county officer bonds, and adjourned sine die after a lengthy claims audit and per diem decisions. The proceedings mention Ed Elliott supervision, Ballard, Norris, and Ersland, and note a later remark about Boone’s railroad ambitions.
