Armory Building Aims To Serve As Auditorium In Ames
Ames Commercial club discussed a new armory building plan to cost about 5000 dollars to be used as an auditorium and opera house with movable seating. A stock-raising drive seeks 8000 dollars from Parley Sheldon Milo Manning and George OBrien to fund construction as the artillery company of forty Ames youths stands to receive state rent and drill pay. The project awaits stock subscriptions to begin work with a 1000-seat capacity envisioned and arrangements for the site to be decided by stockholders.
