P. L. Porter aims to manufacture one thousand of his patent water and air milk cans. The cans are praised as the best yet shown and expected to spark high demand, with Porter deserving success and buyers assured of value for money.
Fourteen years ago on April 5 1867 Dan McCarthy and Ben Read fetched sleepers and foundation timbers for the old meat market building from Ontario to Ames by sleighs. The spring was late that year and sleighing was good countywide. An Irishman's advice hints at newspaper errors and a death notice joke by a living editor.

Mr Giles Cook and Mr M Hemstreet will build new business houses on Onondaga street next spring and summer. Cook’s brick will front 27 feet and Hemstreet’s 20 feet, each 80 feet deep two stories high with lower 14 feet and upper 12 feet. The structures will be well built and improve the south side of the street.
Over three evenings the council examined the Assessors books on equalization. Many entries were read and considered, with fewer than a dozen edits overall and only two raises approved, affecting no major dollar amounts.
The judge has been confined to his home since returning from Ft. Dodge and is now improving. He will not resign immediately per friends' wishes and will seek a vacation to recover. If no improvement, he plans to resign early next fall before court terms begin.
A letter from C. Lamb & Son to agent C. D. Norman details a scarce lumber supply in Clinton with seven cars shipped since March 25 and more to follow. Over 300 lumber cars wait on Clinton tracks heading west with 500 more on order as the C. N. W. reels from winter locomotive repairs. A lumber train marked Clinton March 13th was killed heading west yesterday morning.
