If You Are Honest Pay the Printer Sermon
A Rahway themed sermon urges settling debts to printers, arguing unpaid bills spoil character and social trust. The speaker praises the printer as a mind’s light, warns against delaying payment, and urges immediate settlement with moral and civic consequences. He recounts a speaker’s tale of debt paid restoring health, and ends urging ongoing timely payments and gratitude to the source of capital.

TAPPAN Senate amendment on District banks 1541
In February 1541 in the Senate Mr. Tappan of Ohio offered an amendment to revive bank charters in the District of Columbia under equal competition. The proposal would require public stockholder records, newspaper publication, and court evidence of ownership. It seeks to end monolithic banking by granting tax and liability burdens across all banks. It argues for free trade in banking and questions the petition of local bankers signed by about two hundred names.

Bank Charters and the District Currency Debate
A fiery critique argues that stockholders risk only cash while the public bears losses when banks fail. It denounces chartered banks as elite privileges, warns Congress has no constitutional power to grant banking charters, and decries the district’s banking system as inherently fraudulent and unsustainable amid widespread bank failures.
