Independent Treasury Debate Mirrors Party Strife
A lengthy editorial denounces political faction ground rules and the influence of wealth in governance. It warns against demagoguery, praises vigilance for liberty, and lists House yeas and nays on the Independent Treasury Bill with named lawmakers. The Baltimore Republic in commentary frames the split as Whig and third party opposition versus fiscal integrity.
