An elderly man near a centenary faced trial in Mobile Circuit Court for murdering his 19 year old grandson. The defendant’s daughter testified that he, while drunk and asleep, suddenly stabbed her son. she described crying, old age sympathy, and the jury returned a manslaughter verdict with a twenty day confinement sentence citing his prior honesty and Revolutionary service under Gen Marion in South Carolina. The report notes his dotage and possible insanity from ardent spirits.

The Backwoodsman reports the safe arrival in Bluffdale, Illinois, of the ark on wheels built by Fessenden of Dorchester for his nine member family. Seventeen feet long, ten high, six wide, with cooking washing and sleeping space inside nine by ten by seventeen feet. The governor of Illinois hailed it in Morgan County calling it The Great Western and the ship rests in Bluffdale as a curiosity and relic of Yankee ingenuity with descendants set to preserve it for future generations.

A compilation of letters dated 1836 to 1837 from Wetmore, Innis, Wasson, Fenton, Scott, Duvall and others extols B A Fahnestock's Vermituge. Claims includeworm expulsion in 50 plus cases, 16 to 60 worms per child, and up to two hundred worms. The notices warn against counterfeit imitations and urge buyers to seek the official labeled Vermifuge with proprietor signature.
Sears' American Hygiene Vegetable Renovating Pills offered as an effective remedy for bilious liver complaints and disorders from stomach and bowels. Subscribers are named sole agents for sale and distribution in the Western country, with applications for agencies and wholesale purchases to B. A. Fahnestock & Co.
A letter from Chambersburg dated May 17 1826 praises Anti-Bilious Pills prepared by BA Fahnestocks and sold by BA Fahnestock Co at Pittsburgh. The note says the pills relieve intermittent fevers jaundice indigestion and other ailments and are cheaper and better than German or Keyser's Pills. It is signed by Bob Fahnestock and Oh'n Stouffer.
