Corwin urges stable currency and bank policy for Ohio
Governor Thomas Corwin warns that without action on banks and currency, Ohio faces credit tightening, land sales delays, and higher taxes. He cites bank redemptions, charter expirations in 1843 and 1844, and proposes a system of coin and bank notes convertible to coin. He notes public land sale proceeds and calls for federal support for canals and harbors to aid trade. Columbus December 6, 1842.
