Fragments of a southern political pamphlet debate
Readable portions describe a northern and southern rift over Texas annexation and slavery, citing Walker's pamphlet and a Whig Democratic clash. The piece discusses alleged forgeries, authenticity, and the motive to boost southern power in Congress, urging Democrats to back Texas. It names Walker, Calhoun, Wise, and Clay and references the Senate balance and regional strategies.
