Brothers Surrender In Car Theft Case
Charles and William Haggerton surrendered to face arrest in Amarillo after being indicted by a Potter County grand jury for theft of a 1947 Kaiser sedan and a driverless car that crashed into the J C Oliver residence at 1900 Crockett. Richard Walls is also charged but free on bond. William, known as Skeeter, was arrested June 21. charges against him were dismissed later.

Funeral services for Stanley Mauldin 27 former Amarillo Sandies and Chicago Cardinals star will likely be Tuesday at Polk Street Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Amarillo with Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Home in charge. Mauldin a 6 2 tackle born December 27 1921 excelled at Amarillo High School and the University of Texas earning All-Southwest Conference honors and a 1942 Outstanding Athlete trophy. He died after a heart attack suffered Friday night two hours after the Cardinals defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 21 to 14.

Two Floydada Men Injured in Highway Crash
A crash at the eastern Floydada city limits at 6 am injured two Floydada men. Alvie L. Jackson, 38, suffered a brain concussion and critical injuries, remaining unconscious at Floydada Hospital. David Stanton, 25, sustained head injuries but retained consciousness at times. his car hit a guard rail and a railroad signal post, demolishing the vehicle.

Four Injured in Head-On Collision on Highway 287
Four people were injured in a head-on crash five miles north of the Canadian River bridge on Highway 287 Saturday evening. A. V. Green of Hereford and Paul Wilson Jr of Stratford were treated at Northwest Texas Hospital for non serious injuries. R. O. Manning and M. L. Polk were released after emergency care. Manning and Polk, both plumbers, were returning from Dumas where they had been working at a school. Wilson drove the northbound pickup and Manning drove the late model car. Green was riding in the pickup and Polk in the car. Manning and Polk’s addresses and ages are given. Officers said the accident occurred on a hill near the Canadian River bridge. Wilson previously worked at Vega.

Bears Triplicate Kill In British Columbia Hunt
W H Coon of Dalhart and Curtis Japhet of Houston on a three day pack trip in British Columbia bag three grizzly bears near Lake Tuchoci. A guide spotted the first bear as the hunters fired, and W H Coon delivered a quick shot from about 20 feet. Dick Coon Jr sought a fourth bear but the pursuit ended without success as the group wrapped up their hunt.
