Fort Worth report says Dr. J. K. Thompson pastor of the First Presbyterian Church was mobbed by people seeking liquor after a newspaper misprinted the church address. He joked he only wanted to prepare a Sunday sermon as crowds arrived all day.
Claude Pollard former Texas attorney general and railroads counsel was acquitted of conspiring to use counterfeit cigarette tax stamps. He faced accusations of protecting stamp users while attorney for a tobacco jobbers association. Several others were indicted in the same case.
Tulsa police joined a statewide manhunt for bandits driving an Illinois-licensed car who robbed a Coffeyville Kansas mail truck. Six squad cars were posted on roads north of Tulsa to trap the robbers. loot amount was not known.
The forecast notes a colder Sunday with probable rain in Amarillo and a partly cloudy to rainy and colder Tranhandle area. West Texas and eastern New Mexico expect generally fair conditions with little temperature change. Hourly readings show a high around 83 and a low near 64 degrees.

Four airmen were killed as their plane, used to refuel Sir Alan Cobham's ship en route to India, crashed in flames on a main London road near Aylesbury Buckinghamshire. The incident followed their refueling of about 100 gallons of fuel twenty miles from Portsmouth over the English Channel.
The New York Herald Tribune reports friends of General Hugh S. Johnson say he is through as national recovery administrator. Johnson returned to Washington after weeks away but did not visit the NRA. Roosevelt and Johnson had a September 10 Hyde Park conference where the President indicated plans to reorganize the NRA, implying Johnson would not continue.
In Austin the Texas Legislature nears adjournment after a 30 day special session. No final action on key relief measures, including state bond issuance to match federal grants for unemployment and drought relief. Conference committees strive to finalize a bill, with reports due to both houses Monday.
Enormous crowds attended the twelfth Tri State Fair with ideal weather and a record attendance. Wilbur C Hawk, president of the Fair Association, called the event financially successful though exact figures were not available. Officials noted top competition in beef cattle dairy cattle and swine with strong regional support from dozens of cities across the territory and beyond into Oklahoma and New Mexico. Six days of races drew about 6 000 spectators each day.

Tulsa registered 1,032 persons to win the $100 prize for the largest delegation at the Tri-State Fair. Hereford had 715, Perryton 398, and Borger 288 as other delegations. Wilbur C. Hawk, fair president, announced the awards.
Houston relief commissary and PWA offices were guarded by special rangers after a report to relief administrator Perry Moore that the building housing them would be dynamited. All entrants last night and today were searched for explosives.
Ray Schumacher age 33 a state treasury agent was shot and killed in Kenosha while he and colleagues searched a home for illicit liquor. Charles Meit 20 was arrested by police as the suspected slayer.
